I always appreciate a new spin on the vampire mythology and this book definitely gives you that. It follows a group of teenagers at an exclusive private school that find out that they are Blue Bloods (aka vampires). They are the fallen angels of heaven, cursed to live on Earth for joining Lucifer in the battle for heaven. Now, trying to earn redemption they basically live forever, but their bodies do not. They are continuously “reborn” and become their vampire selves around the age of 16 at which time they start craving blood, getting their memories from “past lives” back, and coming into their powers. They believe themselves to be invincible.
However, when some of the teenagers start getting killed by being drained of their blood, it starts to appear that something out there could actually be hunting them.
The book series follows Schuyler Van Allen, a “half-breed” (half vampire-half human) sophomore at the prestigious private school as she discovers her secret history. The books take several really interesting twists and turns and while there were some slower parts on the whole I couldn’t put them down. The series maintained its integrity through all 9 books which I find doesn’t happen all that often.
I definitely recommend these.
